The Summer of Love, a hallmark event that epitomized the cultural revolution of the 1960s in San Francisco, remains a symbol of freedom, artistic expression, and communal harmony. Marking its 50th anniversary, our mission was to encapsulate this iconic moment in a brand identity that resonated with both those who lived through it and a new generation eager to connect with its ideals.
The challenge lay in crafting a brand story that celebrated the essence of the Summer of Love while making it relevant for today’s audience. Drawing on the rich visual and cultural archives provided by the California Historical Society, we delved into the era’s iconic imagery, poster art, and typography to construct a bridge between the 1960s and the present.
